Hey there, fellow mamas! Welcome to the whirlwind journey of your baby’s first year. As a mom who’s been through it all (twice and currently going through it!) I’m here to give you the lowdown on what to expect and celebrate during this incredible journey.

  • Rolling Over: (Around 4 to 6 months )Let’s start with a classic milestone: rolling over. One day, your little one will surprise you by flipping from their back to their tummy (and vice versa) like a tiny acrobat. It’s a game-changer, folks! Celebrate this milestone by cheering them on and capturing the moment on camera – trust me, you’ll want to remember it.
  • Sitting Up: (Around 6 to 8 months) Next up, we’ve got sitting up. Once your baby masters this skill, they’ll be sitting pretty (literally) and taking in the world from a whole new perspective. Cue the proud mama moment as you watch them sit up unassisted for the first time. Break out the baby-proofing gear because they’re about to become mobile!
  • Babbling: (Around 6 to 9 months) Get ready for some serious cuteness overload because babbling is about to become your baby’s favorite pastime. From adorable coos and gurgles to nonsensical “conversations,” your little chatterbox will be melting hearts left and right. Celebrate this milestone by engaging in back-and-forth babbling sessions – it’s the best kind of bonding!
  • First Tooth: (Around 6 to 10 months) Ah, the infamous teething phase. Brace yourselves, mamas, because those first tiny teeth are about to make their debut. Although the “average” age is 6 to 10 months, my second child started at 4 months! I saw her top tooth literally pop in overnight in her 4th month… we have alot of experience in the teething world in my house. • Crawling: (Around 6 to 10 months) Get ready to chase after your little explorer because crawling season is officially here. From army crawling to the classic hands-and-knees crawl, your baby will be on the move and exploring every nook and cranny of your home.
  • First Words: (Around 9 to 12 months) Drumroll, please! It’s time for your baby’s first words to make their grand entrance. Whether it’s “mama,” “dada,” or “uh-oh,” hearing those precious first words is a moment you’ll never forget. Celebrate this milestone by showering your baby with praise, hugs, and maybe even a few happy tears.

Soak up every moment, celebrate every milestone, and remember that you’re doing an amazing job. But also remember, every baby is special and different… they will do things on their own time. This is a guide (and my personal experience) so yours may be different and that is totally OK! Reach out to your doctor if you have any concerns.
