Heading to the beach with your little ones in tow? As a mom who’s mastered the art of beach outings with a toddler and baby, I’m here to share my ultimate packing guide to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable day by the sea. From sun protection to entertainment, we’ve got you covered with everything you need for a fun-filled beach adventure!

Sun Protection Essentials: First and foremost, protecting your little ones from the sun’s rays is paramount. Pack plenty of sunscreen with a high SPF, sun hats that provide shade for delicate heads and faces, and UV-protective swimwear to keep their skin covered. Don’t forget sunglasses for you and your toddler to shield your eyes from the glare.

Beach Blanket or Towels: A cozy beach blanket or towels are essential for setting up your beach basecamp. Choose a large, sand-resistant blanket or towels that you can spread out for your family to relax and play on. Bonus points if they’re colorful and vibrant to add a splash of fun to your beach setup!

Swimsuits and Changes of Clothes: Pack swimsuits for your toddler and baby, along with a few changes of clothes in case they get wet or sandy. Opt for lightweight, breathable fabrics that dry quickly and are comfortable for all-day wear. Don’t forget extra diapers and wipes for diaper changes on the go.

Water Shoes: Water shoes are important for toddlers at the beach to protect their feet from hot sand, sharp shells, and rough surfaces, while providing traction and stability in and out of the water.

Swim Diapers: An absolute must to contain a poopy mess. Enough said. (Plus, regular diapers and wipes for afterwards in the car. Swim diapers don’t hold pee and will leak on your car seat. Include a plastic bag to wrap any used diapers if needed.)

Beach Toys and Entertainment: Keep your little ones entertained with a selection of beach toys and activities. Pack sandcastle molds, buckets and shovels, beach balls, and water-safe toys for endless hours of fun in the sand and surf. A beach-friendly book or a portable speaker for playing music can also add to the beach day vibes.

Snacks and Hydration: Beach days can work up quite an appetite, so don’t forget to pack plenty of snacks and water to keep your little ones fueled and hydrated. Opt for easy-to-eat finger foods like fruit slices, crackers, and cheese sticks, and don’t forget a cooler or insulated bag to keep perishable snacks fresh.

Hats: Protect you head and your kid’s heads.

Beach Umbrella or Shade: Ok, this won’t find in your beach bag but it’s just as important as anything in there.

Beach Wagon: Ok, Ok, another item that won’t fit in your beach bag but trust me, having a wagon to haul everything plus the kids is a must.

First Aid Kit and Baby Essentials: Be prepared for any bumps, scrapes, or minor emergencies with a basic first aid kit containing band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and any necessary medications. Additionally, pack baby essentials such as a baby powder for removing sand, a changing mat for diaper changes, and a portable baby tent or sunshade for naptime.
